Hand Beaded Jewelry
We had been friends for years, but in 2009 we discovered that we had each independently developed an interest in creating beadwoven jewelry. Since then we have worked together – it is more fun, and we help and inspire each other.
Our necklaces, bracelets and earrings are created one bead at a time using traditional beadweaving techniques. More recently we have been using an adaptation of an ancient Japanese braiding method called kumihimo. Historically the braids were used by samurai as ties for armor and later as kimono sashes. The adaptation we use incorporates beads into the braiding.
In our jewelry we use high-quality Japanese seed beads, Swarovski crystals, freshwater pearls and semiprecious stones. With the wide variety of colors, sizes, shapes and finishes that are now available, the design possibilities are endless. While we each have our favorite color palettes and techniques, we have the same commitment to creating beautiful, wearable jewelry.
