Lori Yarrow

Contemporary Handcrafted Jewelry

Lori discovered a fascination with jewelry making while she was working for the State of Vermont helping people with disabilities find meaningful employment. Primarily self-taught at this stage, she worked with copper and brass, using the techniques of fold-forming, chainmaille and forging metal.

Upon her retirement in 2009, she began a more formal education. Fascinated by the southwestern art forms of jewelry design, she attended the Ghost Ranch in Abiqui, New Mexico, studying under Judith Foster. She learned the art of silversmithing, lapidary and channel inlay in the Zuni and Hopi tradition - how to cut, grind and polish rough stones, placing them within a silver channel setting. Her designs have a modern look with a southwestern influence. The lines are clean and the pieces are bold. Structure, movement, and texture inform her designs.

Her studio is located in her home in Hinesburg, Vermont. She shows her work in various galleries and shops in Vermont and through craft shows.
